Two railway tracks are parallel to west–east direction. A long one track, train A moves with a speed
of 30m/s. form west to east, while along the second track, train B moves with a speed of 48 m/s
from east to west. Calculate (i) relative velocity of B w.r.t A and (ii) relative speed of ground w.r.t B.

Answer:

i)78m/s

ii)-48m/s

Explanation:

_______________________________________

Relative velocity equation

  • if they are moving in same direction,

then, relative velocity, Vab=Va-Vb

  • if they are moving in opposite direction,

then, relative velocity,Vab=Va+Vb

______________________________________

given,

  • velocity of train A=30m/s
  • velocity of train B=48m/s
  • velocity of ground=0m/s

______________________________________

here, the trians are moving in opposite direction,so,

  • relative velocity of train B w.r.t A

=Va+Vb

=30+48

=78m/s

  • relative velocity of ground w.r.t B

=0-48

=-48m/s

hope it helps you...!!!thank you...!!
