Answer:

The answer is 8 ohm and 259.2 Kj

Step-by-step explanation:

The total resistance in parallel combination is 8 ohm( given in dig. )

Heat evolved: V^2R/T

(12×12)/8×30×60

=259200J

=259.2Kj

The equivalent resistance of the circuit=8 ohm

The heat evolved =32.4 KJ

Step-by-step explanation:

Let R_1=10\Omega

R_2=40\Omega

Potential difference=V=12 V

When the resistance are connected in parallel then

\frac{1}{R_{eq}}=\frac{1}{R_1}+\frac{1}{R_2}

Using the formula

\frac{1}{R_{eq}}=\frac{1}{10}+\frac{1}{40}

\frac{1}{R_{eq}}=\frac{4+1}{40}

\frac{1}{R_{eq}}=\frac{5}{40}=\frac{1}{8}

R_{eq}=8\Omega

Time=30 minutes=30\times 60=1800s

1 minute=60 s

Current,I=\frac{V}{R}

Using the formula

I=\frac{12}{8}=\frac{3}{2}=1.5 A

Heat=I^2Rt

Where I=Current

R=Resistance

t=Time

Using the formula

Heat, E=(1.5)^2\times 8\times 1800=32400J

Heat, E=\frac{32400}{1000}=32.4 KJ

1 KJ=1000 J
