so let's consider the value of each resistor to be 'r'

we have been given that :

1/R = 1/r + 1/r

1/R = 2/r

r = 2/R

so if we connect the resistors in series we get

(let's denote equivalent resistance in series as R1)

R1 = r + r

R1 = 2/R + 2/R

R1 = 4/R

so the resistance when connected in series will be 4 divided by their resistance in parallel.
