Answer:

Equivalent resistance is (250+-5)ohm

Explanation:

Equivalent resistance=R1 + R2

= 100+150=250

DeltaR equivalent = deltaR1 + deltaR2

= 3+2=5

Equivalent resistance =(250+-5)ohm

Hope it helps

Concept

Absolute error is the difference between the measured or derived value of a quantity and the actual value. Absolute errors are not enough because there is no information about the meaning of the error.  It is denoted by the symbol Δx .

Given

We have given two resistance R_1=(100\pm3)ohm  and R_2=(150\pm2)ohm  and they are connected in series .

Find

We are asked determine the absolute error of equivalent resistance

Solution

In series equivalent resistance is given by the sum of the resistances .

The equivalent resistance R_e_q of two resistances R_1 and R_2 are

connected in series

R_e_q=R_1+R_2\\R_e_q=(100\pm3)+(150\pm2)\\R_e_q=250\pm5

Hence , absolute error is 5 .

Therefore, the absolute error of equivalent resistance is 5 .
