Given : Two resistances are made of same material having the same area of cross section and length of one wire is double of another wire are connected in parallel. If you are not provided with any other parameters (eg. numerical values of I and V),

To Find :  what can you say about the resistivity of two resistors

Solution:

Resistivity is denoted by "ρ"

Resistivity is property of a material

For a given material resistivity is same for a given temperature and independent of Dimensions , size and shape of material

As both resistances are made of same material

Hence  resistivity of two resistors will be same .

resistivity  =  resistance of a conductor of unit cross-sectional area and unit  length.

R = ρL/A

ρ and A are same

Resistance with double length will have double resistance than other resistor.

resistivity of two resistors will be same .
