Two resistances when connected in parallel given resultant value of 2 ohm . When connected in series the value becomes 9 ohm. Calculate the value of resistance.

let the two resistances be x&y
in series
x+y=9.......(i)
in parallel,
(1/x)+(1/y)=(1/2)
xy/(x+y)=2
xy/9=2
xy=18
so ,
x=6ohm
and y=3ohm
