Answer :-

16 joules

Explanation :-

Two resistors of resistance 2 Ω and 4 Ω are connected in series with a 6 V battery

We need to find the heat produced in 4 Ω resistor in 4 s

Let us first calculate the total resistance of 2 Ω and 4 Ω resistors in series  connection

→  R = 2 Ω + 4 Ω

→  R = 6 Ω

Calculating the Current through the 4 Ω resistor

Let, current through the 4 Ω resistor be I

(Using the rule : No. of resistors in series , have same current flowing through each resistor equal to the current flowing in the whole circuit.)

→  I = V / R

→  I = 6 / 6

→  I = 1 A

Now, calculating Heat produced by 4 Ω resistor in 4 s

→  H = I² × R × t

→  H = (1)² × 4 × 4

 H = 16 J

Therefore,

Heat produced will be 16 joules .
