Answer :

Two resistors of 6Ω are connected in parallel with a battery of 6V.

We have to find total current in the circuit.

◈ First of all, we need to find equivalent resistance of the parallel connection.

Equivalent resistance of parallel connectiom is given by

  • 1/Rp = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + ... + 1/Rn

⇒ 1/Rp = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂

⇒ 1/Rp = 1/6 + 1/6

⇒ 1/Rp = 2/6

Rp = 3Ω

As per ohm's law, current flow in the circuit is directly proportional to the applied potential difference.

  • V = I × R

➝ V = I × Rp

➝ 6 = I × 3

➝ I = 6/3

I = 2 A
