Two resistors are connected in parallel across battery of 2V and current drawn from the battery is 2A. If one of the resistance is disconnected, the current will become 1.5A. What is the resistance of the disconnected resistor?​

Let connected resistor r1 and disconnected resistor r2 and total resistor is R.

connected resistance r1= 2/1.5

= 1.33 ohm

and total resistance R = v/i

=2/2 =1 ohm

in parallel combination is R= r1*r2/(r1+r2)

putting the value of r1 and R.

we get, 1.33*r2/(1.33+r2) = 1

1.33 r2 = 1.33+ r2

1.33 r2 - r2 = 1.33

0.33 r2 = 1.33

r2 = 4.03 ohm

disconnected resistor r2= 4.03 ohm
