Given

✭ Two resistors of 50Ω & 100Ω are connected in series

✭ Potential difference 200 V

✭ Time = 3 hours = 3 × 3600 = 10800 sec

To Find

◈ Heat produced?

Solution

We know that in a series connection,is given by,

R1+R2......+Rₙ

Substituting the given values,

➝ R = 50 + 100

➝ R = 150Ω

Now we shall find the heat produced with the help of,

H = Rt

So now the current in the circuit can be found with the help of the Ohm's law,

V = IR

  • V = 200 V
  • R = 150

Substituting the given values,

➳ V = IR

➳ 200 = I × 150

➳ 200 = 150I

➳ 200/150 = I

➳ I = 1.4 A

Substituting these values in the formula for heat

»» H = I²Rt

»» H = 1.4² × 150 × 10800

»» H = 3175200 J
