Given :

Time = t

Two resistors of resistance ' R ' are connected in series and then in parallel .

To find :

The ratio of the power consumed in two cases .

Solution :

Power , P = ( Voltage * Voltage ) / Resistance

Let power be P_s when resistors are in series and P_p when resistors are in parallel .

Now ,

P_s / P_p = [ ( Voltage * Voltage )  * ( R / 2 )] / [ ( 2R ) * ( Voltage * Voltage )]

=> P_s / P_p = 1 / 4

The ratio of the power consumed in two cases is 1 : 4 .
