Two resistors of resistances 6 Ω and 12 Ω, are connected first in series, and then in parallel in a circuit

across a battery of 6 V. Calculate the ratio of the heat produced in the series combination to that of

Answer:

In series R = 6+12 =18

In parallel 1/R =1/6 +1/12 =1/4 so R =4

Heat produced will be proportional to v^2/R

So,it is (1/18^2) : (1/4^2) = 4 : 81
