Given :  Two resistors  R₁  = 48 Ω and R₂ = 12 Ω connected in parallel across 24V battery

To Find : Total current , Total resistance , current through each resistor

Solution:

R₁  = 48 Ω

R₂ = 12 Ω

Reff = R

1/R  = 1/48  + 1/12

=> 1/R  = ( 1 + 4)/48

=> 1/R = 5/48

=> R = 48/5

=> R = 9.6 Ω

I  = V/R

Total Current  = 24 /9.6 =  2.5 A

Current  through R₁    48 Ω = 24/48  = 0.5 A

Current  through R₂    12 Ω = 24/12  =  2 A

9.6 Ω    is effective resistance

Total current = 2.5A

Current  through R₁    48 Ω  = 0.5 A

Current  through R₂    12 Ω  =  2 A
