Two resistors when connected in parallel give the resultant
resistance of 2 ohm; but when connected in series the effective
resistance becomes 9 ohm. Calculate the value of each resistance.​

R1+R2=9

R1R2/R1+R2=1/2....(1/R=1/2)

put R1+R2=9.....2)

R1R2=18

now

(R1+R2)^2=81

R^2+R2^2+2R1R2=81

(R1)^2+(R2)^2+2×18=81

(R1)^2+(R2)^2=81-36

(R1)^2+(R2)^2=45

(R1-R2)^2=45-2×18.

R1-R2=√9......2)

=3

from 1 and 2

2R1=12

R1=6

R2=3
