in these lines the poet is in dilemma about his choices .he is saying he has to chose one path he cannot choose both .same thing happens to us in a particular point of time we have to choose one thing and we must ensure that our choice is right becoz we never get the second chance again in the life.

so it was all about the lines of the stanza.

The first lines mean- a person had two options, they were very different.

The second line means- that he was sad he could not take both options.

The third line means- he means that he took a lot of time to take a decision.

The fourth line means- he thought about each decision far into the future.

The fifth line means- he looked into the future till he could see nothing which means death
