Two rods, 'A' and 'B', of the same weight and
equal length, have different thicknesses. A boy,
while playing with them on a beach, held them
vertically on the surface of sand as shown in the
figure. Which one of them will sink less? Explain.
5.
Three holes, A, B and C, are made in an empty can
at different levels, one over the other, as shown in
the figure. They are (temporarily) closed with an
adhesive tape. The can
The can is now filled with water.
What will you observe, when the tape (on all of
them) is pulled out? Justify your answer.
6.
Make two tiny holes, of the same size, at equal
heights from the bottom in a plastic bottle. Cover
them and fill the bottle with water. Let the 'covers
be now removed. State the 'observations', and the
resulting 'conclusions', based on this activity.

Answer:

Answer: Rod B will go deeper as it has a smaller area of contact, therefore the same force (weight of the rod) produces more pressure. In case of rod A the same force produces less pressure

4) Two rods, 'A' and 'B', of the same weight andequal length, have different thicknesses. A boy, while playing with them on a beach, held themvertically on the surface of sand as shown in thefigure. Which one of them will sink less? Explain.

answer :- pressure(p) =  \frac{force(f)}{area(a)}

The rod A having more area of contact compared to rod B, and the forces is same because of same weight of the rods. Therefore the rod B will exert more pressure on that area than rod A. Hence, the rod B will sink more. and A sink less

answer:- we will see that water from hole A goes the farthest but water from hole C travels the minimum distance. This is because of the principle that there is a greater water pressure on deep side than on the upper side

answer:- The observation and the conclusion of the given activity, are as follows -

Observation: When we will remove those two coverings from the bottle, the water will start coming out from those two holes. And the rate of water flow from those two holes will be equal.

Conclusion: The pressure and height

are inversely proportional in case of liquid water. Here, the two holes are situated in same height, that's why the water flow rates are equal for two holes. If the holes were made in different heights then the flow rates will become different also

hope it was helpful to you ☺️☺️.
