Two ropes of lengths 16 m and 24 m are to be cut into small
pieces of equal lengths. What will be the maximum length of

EXPLANATION

Length of first rope = 16 m

Length of second rope = 24 m

For piece of equal length of each rope, first of all we need H.C.F of both ropes.

And for H.C.F, first of all we need to find the largest common factor of the length of both ropes.

So, we need to find the H.C.F. of 16 and 24

16 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 2^4

24 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 = 2^3 × 3

H.C.F( 16 , 24 ) = 2^ 3 = 8

So, the maximum length of each piece of the rope is 8 m.
