Two runners starts running simultaneously from the same point on a circular track
of perimeter 200m and run in the same direction. One runs at constant
speed of 6.20 m/s and the other at a constant speed of 5.50 m/s. When the
fast one overtakes the slower one and how far from the starting point will
each have run?

Answer:

Explanation:

Let faster overcome slower after time t

Let faster overcome slower after time tVelocity of faster relative to slower =(6.2−5.5)=0.7 m/s

Let faster overcome slower after time tVelocity of faster relative to slower =(6.2−5.5)=0.7 m/s⟹t=0.7200=285.714

Let faster overcome slower after time tVelocity of faster relative to slower =(6.2−5.5)=0.7 m/s⟹t=0.7200=285.714Distance covered by faster  =6.2×t=6.2×285.714=1770=8×200+170

Let faster overcome slower after time tVelocity of faster relative to slower =(6.2−5.5)=0.7 m/s⟹t=0.7200=285.714Distance covered by faster  =6.2×t=6.2×285.714=1770=8×200+170Thus after making 8 complete round on circular track faster will overcome slower at 170 m away from the starting point
