area of the parallelogram = base * corresponding altitude
1) let the one side =a = 40cm
corresponding altitude = h1
area of the parallelogram= 40*h1---(1)
2)second side = b=50 cm
corresponding altitude = h2 =20cm
area of the parallelogram= 50cm * 20 cm---(2)

(1) = (2)
40*h1 = 50*20

h1= (50*20)/40
h1 = 25 cm
