2x = 24

4x = 48

Step-by-step explanation:

let sides be 2x and 4x

Perimeter= 72cm

=> 2(2x + 4x) = 72

=> 4x + 8x = 72

=> 12x = 72

=> x = 72/12

So, x = 6

2x = 2×6 = 12cm

4x = 4×6 = 24cm

EXPLANATION.

Two sides of a parallelogram are in the ratio = 2 : 4.

If its perimeter = 72 cm.

As we know that,

In Parallelogram opposite sides are also equal.

Let one sides of parallelogram be = 2x.

Other sides of parallelogram be = 4x.

Perimeter of parallelogram = 2[one side + other sides].

⇒ 2[2x + 4x] = 72.

⇒ 2[6x] = 72.

⇒ 12x = 72.

⇒ x = 6 cm.

One sides be = 2x = 2 x 6 = 12 cm.

Other sides be = 4x = 4 x 6 = 24 cm.
