GivEn:

  • Two sides of a triangle = 10 cm and 14 cm
  • Perimeter of triangle = 40 cm

To find:

  • Length of third sides of triangle?

Solution:

☯ Let length of third side be x cm.

We know that,

Perimeter of triangle = Sum of its all sides

Here,

  • Two sides of triangle = 10 cm and 14 cm
  • Perimeter of triangle = 40 cm

Therefore,

⇒10 + 14 + x = 40

⇒ 24 + x = 40

⇒ x = 40 - 24

⇒ x = 16 cm

∴ Hence, Length of third side of triangle is 16 cm.

More to know:

  • Area of triangle = ½ × base × height

  • Heron's Formula = √s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)

  • Sum of all angles of a triangle is 180°.

Answer:

 \huge \tt \: given \:

Sides of triangle = 10 and 14 cm

Perimeter = 40 cm

 \huge \tt \: to \: find

Third side

 \huge \tt \: solution

Let the third side be x

As we know that

Sum of all sides of triangle = Perimeter

 \sf \implies \: 10 + 14 + x = 40

 \sf \implies \: 24 + x = 40

 \sf \implies \: x = 40 - 24

 \sf \implies \: x = 16

Verification

 \sf \: 10 + 14 + x = 40

 \sf \: 10 + 14 + 16 = 40

 \sf \: 40 = 40

LHS = RHS
