Let ABC a triangle and

  • let a = 5

  • let b = 4cm

  • and let third side be c.

Then we must have a + b > c.

i.e 5cm + 4cm > c = c < 9cm

\rightarrow Now visible values of c are 1 cm , 2cm , 3cm , 4cm , 5cm, 6cm ,7cm , 8cm.

\rightarrowbut,if c = 1cm means that b + c = a

\rightarrow let's not consider c = 1 cm

\therefore possible values for c are 2cm, 3cm, 4cm , 5cm , 6cm , 7cm , 8cm
