Answer:

Given Two slips of paper marked 5 and 10 are put in a box and three slips marked 1, 3, 5 are in another. One slip from each box  is drawn.

a) What is the probability that both show odd number?

(b) What is the probability of getting one odd number and one even number?

According to question one box contains (5,10)

Another box contains (1,3,5)

Probability for odd number for 1 box = 1/2

Probability for odd number for 2 box = 3/3 = 1

Therefore required probability = 1/2 x 1 = 1/2

Now probability of getting one odd and one even

So P(one odd from 1 box) x P(one even from box 2) + P(one even from box 1) x P(one odd from box 2)

= 1/2 x 0/3 + 1/2 x 3/3

= 0 + 1/2

= 1/2
