Two solutions of a substance (non electrolyte)
are mixed in the following manner 480 ml of
1.5M first solution + 520 mL of 1.2M second
solution. What is the molarity of the final
mixture
(1) 1.20 M
(2) 1.50 M
(3) 1.344 M

Answer: (3) 1.344 M

Explanation:

Formula used :

C_1V_1+C_2V_2=C_3V_3

where,

C_1 and C_2 are the concentrations  of the first and second solution respectively

C_3 is the concentration of resulting solution

V_1 and V_2 are the volume of the first and second solution respectively

V_3 is the volume of resulting solution

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get the concentration of resulting solution.

(1.5M\times 480ml)+(1.2\times 520ml)=C_3\times 1000ml

C_3=1.344M

The concentration of the resulting solution is 1.344 M
