.Before we begin with today’s events and shows, I thought it wise to deliver a short speech on one of our great national leaders of India and the very first name that came across my mind was our first Prime Minister of Independent India, i.e. Jawaharlal Nehru. I know he doesn’t need an introduction as his great contribution towards India’s Independence Struggle made him immortal and this is the reason why he continues to live in the heart of every Indian.
Born on November 14, 1889, Jawaharlal Nehru was a major figure in the freedom struggle of India and politics too. He became the ruling head of our country in the year 1947 and ruled until he died in the year 1964. He is believed to be the creator of the contemporary Indian nation-state: a secular, socialist, sovereign and democratic republic. Interestingly, he is addressed with several names, such as Pandit Nehru owing to his birth origin in Kashmiri Pandit community and not to forget Chacha Nehru out of pure love of children for him.
