Given: Two spheres have their surface charge densities in the ratio of 2 :3

their radii 3 :2.

To Find :  The ratio of the charges on them

Solution:

Surface charge density (σ) is the quantity of charge per unit area

Two spheres have their surface charge densities in the ratio of 2 :3

2k  and  3k

radii 3 :2

3r  and  2r

Surface are of sphere = 4πR²

Surface are of sphere with radius 3r  = 4π(3r)² = 9(4πr²)

Surface are of sphere with radius 2r  = 4π(2r)² = 4(4πr²)

σ = Q/Area

Q = σ   * area

Charge on sphere with radius 3r  = 2k * 9(4πr²)  = 3(24kπr²)

Charge on sphere with radius 2r  = 3k * 4(4πr²) = 2(24kπr²)

ratio of the charges on them is:   3(24kπr²) : 2(24kπr²)

=> ratio of the charges on them is:   3  : 2

The ratio of the charges on them is: A. 3:2
