M = 4/3 pi R^3 d

M3 / M1 = R3^3 / R1^3      since the density doesn't change

R3 = 2 R1      solving the above equation for R3

So R3 = 2 * 3 cm = 6 cm

and D3 = 12 cm     the diameter of the combined spheres
