For springs in series the load carried is same as the load applied throughout the series.
Hence 300 xa = 400xb
Also xa + xb = 0.0875m
Solve the equations
xa = 0.05m
xb = 0.0375m
Energy in first spring = 0.5x300x0.05^2 = 0.375J
Energy in second spring = 0.5x400x0.0375^2 = 0.281J
Ratio = 0.375/0.281 = 1.33
Hence 300 xa = 400xb
Also xa + xb = 0.0875m
Solve the equations
xa = 0.05m
xb = 0.0375m
Energy in first spring = 0.5x300x0.05^2 = 0.375J
Energy in second spring = 0.5x400x0.0375^2 = 0.281J
Ratio = 0.375/0.281 = 1.33
