Two students perform the experiments on series and parallel combination of two

given resistors R1 and R2 and plot the following V-I graphs. Which of the two

diagrams correctly represents the labels ‘series and parallel’ on the plotted curves?

Answer:

By ohm's law, V=IR

In first graph slope= V/I=R. so greater the resistance, greater the slope or inclination. We know R in series is greater than in parallel so its inclination will be greater and thus the first graph.

The second case is total opposite.
