when two substances densities P1 and P2 are mixed in equal volume ,

Then V×P1+V×P2=(V+V) × 4

or P1+P2 = 8 ----(1)

when they are mixed in equal masses ,

m/P1 + m/P2 = (m+m)/(P)

or P=2 P1×P2 / P1+P2

or 3=2 P1×P2 / 8

or P1×P2 = 12 ----(2)

solving (1)&(2) we get , P1=6 and P2=2.
