QUESTION✪:-

two supplementary angles differ by 43.

find the angles

ANSWER✪:-

let the angles be

  • x
  • y

according to given condition ,

x - y = 43

x = y + 43➜(1)

sum of the supplementary angles = 180°

➥x + y = 180°

➥y + 43° + y = 180°[from (1) ]

➥2y + 43° = 180°

➥2y = 180° - 43°

➥2y = 137°

➥y = 137°/2

\boxed{\sf{y = 68.5°}}

(1)➜x = y + 43

➥x = 68.5 + 43

\boxed{\sf{x= 111.5°}}

therefore ,

  • x = 111.5°
  • y = 68.5°

VERIFICATION✪:-

sum of the supplementary angles = 180°

LHS

= x + y

= 111.5 + 68.5

= 180°

= RHS

therefore ,the resultant angles are verified .
