40% of their progeny will have purple flowers, i.e. there will be 3 purple coloured flowers and 5 white coloured flowers.

EXPLANATION:

Solution: Sweet peas have either white or purple coloured flowers. The genotypes CcPp and ccpp individually produces white flowers. They also produce white flowers when they are absent.

However, if these genes are crossed they changes colour and produces purple flowers along with the white flowers.

Thus the cross of CcPp x ccpp results in 3 purple coloured flowers and 5 white coloured flowers.
