Step-by-step explanation:

let time in which tank can be emtied be x.

in 16 hrs 1 part can be filled by 1st tap

so in 1hr 1/16 part of tank can be filled.

in x hrs x/16 part of tank can be filled.

in 10 hrs 1 part can be filled by 2nd tap

so in 1hr 1/10 part can be filled by 2nd tap.

in x hrs x/10 part can be filled .

in 12 hrs 1 part can be emptied by 3rd tap.

so in 1 hr 1/12 part can be emptied.

in x hrs x/12 part can be emptied.

so the eqn becomes

x/16+x/10-x/12=1 part

 \frac{15x + 24x - 20x}{240}  = 1 \\ 19x = 240 \\ x =  \frac{240}{19}
