two taps fill the cistern 10 and 8 hours respectively a third tap can empty it in 15 hours how long will it take to fill the empty cistern if all of them are opend together​

Answer:

Volume filled by first tap in 1 hour = 1/10

Volume filled by second tap in 1 hour = 1/8

Volume emptied by third tap in 1 hour = 1/15

=>Net volume filled by three taps in 1 hour

= (1/10)+(1/8)-(1/15)

= 12+15-8/120

= 19/120

Therefore,

Time required by all three taps to fill full cistern

= 120/19 hours.
