Two test tubes A and B contain 5 ml of dilute sodium hydroxide solution each. If a drop of blue litmus solution is added to test tube A and a drop of red litmus solution to test tube B, then what changes would there be in the colour of the resultant solutions in both the test tubes?

Test tube A contains dilute HCl and test tube B contains dilute NaOH. On adding blue litmus solution to both the test tubes, the colour of test tube A will change from blue to red while the colour of test tube B will remain same. This is because HCl is an acid and acid turns blue litmus to red.
