Two thin lenses of power +5.5D and -3.5D are placed in contact. Find the

power and focal length of the lens combination. ​

Given that,

P1 = 5.5D

P2 = -3.5D

When these lenses are kept in contact with each other,

Power of Combination (P) = P1+P2

= 5.5 -3.5

= 2

therefore Power of lens = 2D

Focal length = 1/P

= 1/2

= 0.5m
