$\frac{1}{3} of \: x = \frac{1}{3} x$
According to the question

$\frac{2}{3} x - \frac{1}{3} x = 3$

$\frac{2x - x}{3} = 3$

$2x - x = 3 \times 3$

$x = 9$

So the number is 9 whose 2/3 is 3 more the its 1/3

Proof :-

2/3 of 9=6

1/3 of 9=3

Difference =6-3=3
