Yes it's right that two third of the earth surface is covered with water but only 2.5–2.75% is freshwater of which 1.75–2.00% is Frozen in glaciers and ice caps and rest only 0.5–0.75% is available for human use and is available as ground freshwater. 97% of the water is salty and is not fit for usage. As the population is increasing the consumption of freshwater is also increasing that could result in the scarcity of water in our coming future and there will be a shortage of water for the future generations and that's where the need to conserve water arises. Even at present there are many places that are water scarce and don't get adequate supply of water. People of those areas stand in long queues to get 2 buckets of water but they have to do it if they want to have water in there house. This is a serious concern as it would gain it's seriousness with time because the population is no where going to decrease, it's increasing and would continue to increase. Thus it is due to this reason that there arises a need for not only water conservation but also it's judicious use.

The need to conserve water arises because as the population grows, so does the consumption of freshwater, which could lead to water scarcity in the near future and a lack of water for future generations. The population isn't going anywhere; it's growing and will continue to grow, so this is a serious concern that will only get worse over time. Therefore, it is because of this reason that both water conservation and wise use are required.

Although most of the earth's surface is covered by water, not all of it can be used by humans. The saline water found in seas and oceans is unusable for daily tasks. The amount of usable water is very small, and the majority of it is found in the form of glaciers and snow caps. Rivers, lakes, ponds, and groundwater make up just 0.006% of the total water supply.

Nowadays, industrial and agricultural activities are contaminating even these sources.  Many locations still struggle with water scarcity and inadequate supplies today. People in those areas must wait in line for two buckets of water if they want to have access to water for their homes. A shortage of usable water is another issue brought on by rising population and erratic rainfall. We must therefore conserve water.
