Two times a number added to Three times another number we get 50.Two times the second number subtracted from four times the first, we get 36. what are the numbers? ​

Let the two numbers be x and y .

∴ From first condition ,

2x + 3y = 50 -----(1)

And , from second condition ,

4x - 2y = 36 ----(2)

∴ Multiplying (1) by 2 , we get

4x + 6y = 100 -----(3)

∴ Subtracting (2) from (3) , we get

8y = 64

∴ y = 8

Put y = 8 in (1) , we get

2x + 24 = 50

∴ 2x = 26

∴ x = 13

∴ The two numbers are 13 and 8 .
