Answer:

Distance between two poles = 15 cm

Greater distance of the longer pole from the shorter pole = 36 - 28 = 8cm

Considering the top of two poles as a triangle ,

Perpendicular of triangle = 8cm

Base of triangle = 15cm

To find the hypotenuse ( height between their top ) ,

Accordingto pythagorus theorem,

P square + B square = H square

(8×8) + (15×15) = H square

64 + 225 = H square

289 = H square

17 square = H square

H = 17 cm

ANS. AS HYPOTENUSE (H) = DISTANCE BETWEEN THEIR TOPS ,

DISTANCE BETWEEN THEIR TOP IS 17CM
