Given:

Two trains are traveling in opposite directions with speed 25m/s and 30m/s respectively. if the length of one train is 300m and that of the other train is 250m.

To find:

Time taken by the trains to pass each other ?

Calculation:

Net length of both trains while crossing each other will be L :

 \therefore \: L = 250 + 300 = 550 \: m

Now , since the trains are movie opposite to each other, hence the relative velocity of one train with respect to the other will be :

 \therefore \: v_{rel} = 25 + 30 = 55 \: m {s}^{ - 1}

Now , let time taken be t :

 \therefore \: t =  \dfrac{L}{v_{rel}}

 \implies \: t =  \dfrac{550}{55}

 \implies \: t =  10 \: sec

So, time taken by the trains to cross each other is 10 sec.
