Two trains are travelling in opposite directions with speeds 25 m/secm/sec and 30 m/secm/secrespectively. If the length of one train is 300 m and that of the other train is 250 m, then find the time taken by the trains to cross each other.

Answer:

10Sec

Explanation:

Va=25,Vb=30

As moving trains think as Va in +ve i^ direction and vB as negative i^ direction

Va-Vb =-5m/s , but speed is scalar quantity

can't be taken as negative so 5 m/s

L1=300 ,L2=250

Difference of both distance =50

Hence Speed =Distance /time

5=50/t

t=10Sec

Answer:

Time taken by the first train is 12 sec and second train is 8 10/30.

Explanation:

t = d/s

Speed of the first train = 25m /sec

Speed of the second train = 30m/ sec

Distance or length of first train = 300m

Distance or length of second train = 250m

Therefore time taken by the trains to cross each other =

Time taken by first train=

= d/s

= 300/25 sec

= 12 sec

Time taken by second train =

= 250/30 sec

= 8 10/30 sec
