Given : Two trains move in opposite direction along parallel tracks.

Both of them are 100 m long and each travelling with a velocity of 12.5 m/s.

To Find : Time for the first train to cross the second train

Solution:

first train to cross the second train

Hence train has to cover other Train length and own length

Hence Total Distance to be covered = 100 + 100 = 200 m

Both Trains are running in opposite directions

Hence their speed will be added

so Net Speed = 12.5 + 12.5 = 25 m/s

Distance = 200 m

Speed = 25 m/s

Time Taken = 200/25  =  8 sec

Time taken by the first train to cross the second train = 8 secs
