The trains 'X' and 'Y' meet each other after 140 Kms from Station'A'.

Given,

Two trains namely X & Y leave station 'A' at 6.30 am and 7.40 am.

The speed of the trains X&Y is 30km/hr and 40 km/hr respectively.

To Find,

After how many Kms both the train meet each other.

Solution,

Train X leaves station 'A' at 6:30 am, here it is asked to calculate the distance from A when the trains meet

The Distance traveled by train left at 6:30 am up to 7:40 am i.e. in 1 hr. 10 min. or \frac{7}{6} hours = 30×\frac{7}{6} = 35 km.

So, the train leaving at 7:40 am will meet the first train after covering a distance of 35 km. with a relative speed of 40-30=10 km/hr.

Hence,

time taken = 35/10 = 3.5 hours or 3 hours 30 minutes

So, the distance from A = Distance traveled by 2nd train in 3 hr. 30 min

= 40 x 3.5 = 140 km.

The trains 'X' and 'Y' meet each other after 140 Kms from Station'A'.

Answer:

The answer to the given question is the two trains will meet each other at a distance of 140 km, the option A is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Two trains x and y leaves station A.

The timing of the two trains leaving the station is 6.30 am and 7.30 am respectively.

The speed of the trains is given as 30 km/hr and 40 km/hr respectively.

To find :

the kilometres from A will the two trains meet each other.

Solution:

Train x leaves the station at 6.30 am and it may meet train y which leaves at 7.30 am.

let us calculate the distance from the time taken.

In 1 hr with a speed of 30, train x covers a distance of 30 km.

in 2 hrs which is 120 mins, it covers a distance of 60 km.

The train y covers a distance of 40 km in 1 hr.

the time taken between the departure of two trains is

7.40 am - 6.30 am = 1.10

In hours, it is calculated as 7/6 hours.

The formula to find the distance is speed x time taken.

The train x travels 90 km at 8.30 and y travels 40 km at 8.40 which means both trains meet each other at the distance of 140 km at 8.30 pm

The value of the distance os obtained as 140 km.

Another method the train leaves at 7.40 meets the first train at 35 km with a speed of 10 km/hr.

therefore, the time taken is 35/10=3.5

Then the distance with the speed of 40 km/hr is obtained as 40*3.5

=140.

Therefore, the distance from A where each train meets each other is 140 km.

Hence option A is correct.
