Answer:

10m/s, 30m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

As the trains must cross each other, the relative distance travelled must be 2*length of train = 200m

Let the speed of one train be v m/s and the other train be 3v m/s.

As they are travelling in the same direction, the relative speed will be 2v m/s

speed = distance/time taken = 200/10 = 20

The relative speed 2v is found to be 20m/s.

v = 10m/s

The speed of each of the trains are 10m/s and 30m/s.

Answer:

SPEED OF THE FIRST TRAIN = 5m/s

SPEED OF THE SECOND TRAIN = 15m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

LENGTH OF EACH TRAIN = 100m

TIME TAKEN TO CROSS ONE ANOTHER = 10secs

LET THE SPEED OF ONE TRAIN BE x

SO,

SPEED OF THE SECOND TRAIN = 3x

SO,

A.T.Q.,

SPEED = DISTANCE/TIME

x+3x = (100m+100m)/10secs

4x=200/10m/s

x=200/40m/s

x=5m/s

3x=15m/s

SO,

SPEED OF ONE TRAIN IS 5m/s

AND

SPEED OF SECOND TRAIN IS 15m/s
