let distance be x

time in which they will meet =x/90

distance travelled by first train in x/90 hrs=50×{x/90)----------------i

distance travelled by second train in same time=40×{x/90)----------ii

difference in distance is given 100km

subtract ii from i and equate it to 100

taking x/90 common

x/90(50-40)=100

10x=9000

x=900km
