relative velocity = 36+45 = 81 kmph
time = 8 seconds
distance = velocity × time

distance = 81 \times  \frac{5}{18}  \times 8

Given :

Two trains travel in opposite directions at 36 kmph and 45 kmph .

To Find :

The length (in m) of the faster train .

Solution :

Relative speed of slower train w.r.t fast train is :

v = 36+45 = 81 kmph = 22.5 m/s .

When two objects is moving in opposite direction , relative velocity is the sum of velocity of both objects .

So , length of the faster train is :

d=vt\\\\d=22.5\times 8\ m\\\\d=180\ m

Hence , this is the required solution .
