Relative speed = (12 + 23) m/s = 35m/s

total length, 126 + 119 = 245 m

s= d/t

t= d/s

t= 245/35

t= 7 secs

Concept

Relative speed is the rate at which one moving body moves in relation to another.

Given

Given that The speeds of two trains are 12 m/s and 23 m/s, respectively.

Find

We need to find that the time needed by the trains to cross each other

Solution

The speeds are 12m/s and 23m/s

The Relative speed = 12+23 = 35m/s

The length of the train = 126+119 = 245 m

Therefore

Time = Distance covered / Relative Speed

= 245 / 35

∴ Time = 7 sec

Hence the time is 7 seconds
