Two tubes of different area of cross section filled with a liquid are connected. The area of cross section of the small pipe is 50 m2 and that of the large one is 500 m2 . Calculate the force experienced on the large piston if a force of 7 N is applied on the small piston.

Answer:

Given:-

 \sf \: \begin{gathered} \text{cross-sectional area of smaller pipe, }a_{1}=1m^{2}\\\\\text{cross-sectional area of larger pipe, }a_{2}=2m^{2}\\\\\text{Force applied on smaller piston, }F_{1}=10N\end{gathered}

To Find:-

Pressure experienced on the larger piston.

Explanation:-

 \sf \: \text{Pressure on the fluid due to force on the smaller piston, } \\ \pink{  \sf \: P=\dfrac{F_{1}}{a_{1}}=\dfrac{10}{1}=10N/m^{2}}

According to Pascal's law, pressure at every point in a static fluid is same.

Therefore, pressure experienced on the larger

 \sf \: piston=pressure  \: on \:  the  \: smaller  \: piston=10N/m^{2}

Hence proved.
