Occupations in urban areas for livelihood are:

  • Self-employed businessmen are most commonly found in urban areas. There are many people who run their own small businesses on a daily basis to earn a living. For instance, a person running a medicine shop is self-employed.
  • Street workers can be commonly found in urban areas. These street workers or vendors may sell ice-creams, vegetables and fruits in different streets. Examples also include cobblers, rickshaw pullers etc. who earn a livelihood on daily basis doing these jobs.

Occupations in rural areas for livelihood:

  • Agricultural labourers who work in fields as labour to earn daily wages. The agricultural labourers do not have land of their own and so need to work on a daily wage basis.
  • Farmers are the people who carry out farming activities on their own land. The farmers sow and harvest crops and then sell them in the market to earn profits.
